Middle School Club Information 2025-2026

Art Club

Who: 6th group, 7th/8th group
When: September-May
Days: Groups Alternate Tuesdays
Time: 3:30-5:00
Sponsor: Mr. Demory

Description: Each week will have a featured project that students may participate in. They may also work independently on a project of their own.  Students don’t have to commit to every Wednesday, and can come when it fits their schedules.  Please contact Mr. Demory at johndemory@ccaschools.org with any questions

Battle of the Books

Description: This club is for anyone who enjoys friendly competition and a lot of reading! We will spend meetings each month preparing for a state-wide competition where students will answer trivia questions about a set of books. This year’s books are the 25/26 Iowa Teen Award winners, and will be available to check out at the library!

Card Club

Who: 6th, 7th, 8th grade
When: September-May
Days: Thursdays each week

Description: Every Thursday students will meet to play card games of their choice. 

CCA Gives

Who: 6th, 7th, 8th grade

Description: Each week, students will work on a service-learning project to help the CCA community. This club is for students who are interested in helping others through hands-on projects and activities. 

Cheer

Who: 7th & 8th graders
When: September-February (Football, Basketball, Wrestling seasons)
Days: Practices on Tuesday and Thursday (depending on games)
Time: 4-5:30
Sponsors: Mrs. Orris

Description: Cheerleaders will learn the basics of cheering, stunting, and tumbling. There will be three seasons: football, basketball, and wrestling. Practices will be required if you want to cheer during a specific season (only want basketball, I will send out when practices for that season will begin). Physicals must be submitted to the school in order to participate.  Please contact candaceorris@ccaschools.org if you are interested in joining!

Clippers for Christ/FCA

Who: All Grades
When: All year 
Days: Leaders on Mondays and everyone on Fridays
Time: 7:30-8:00 AM

Description: Students gathering in the mornings to read the Bible and play games through fellowship. Leaders come together to create some sort of lesson on Monday mornings and share what they came up with on Fridays with their peers. This club is for anyone interested in growing their Christian faith surrounded by classmates with like-minded goals. Contact markeberly@ccaschools.org with any questions.

DnD Club 

Who: All Grades
When: Year round
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 4:00-5:00

Description: Students meet to play the roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons twice a week.

FFA Organization

Who: 6th, 7th and 8th graders
When: September-May
Days: Once a month plus optional activities throughout the year.

Description: Students enrolled in an Agriculture class may join the Clear Creek Amana FFA. The FFA is a national youth leadership organization that focuses on making a positive difference in the lives of others through leadership opportunities, career development events and agriculture education. Monthly meetings are held at the middle school once a month during the school day. Students can participate in a wide variety of contests and leadership events if they choose to. 

Golf Club

Who: 6th, 7th and 8th graders
When: February-March
Days: Tuesday nights
Time: 5:00-5:45, 6:00-6:45

Description: A chance to learn some basic golf skills. 

Jazz Band

Who: Any 7th or 8th grader in band. 
When: November-March
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays 
Time: 7:30-8:10 AM Tuesdays and Thursdays
Sponsors: Ms. Hill and Mr. Bills

Description: Jazz Band is an extracurricular ensemble that rehearses and performs jazz music spanning from traditional big band jazz music to latin jazz, funk, and rock. It is an introduction to a very diverse art and is an absolute blast!

Middle School Play

Who: 6th, 7th and 8th graders
When: December - early March - PERFORMANCE DATE: TBD, late Feb/early March

Description: The Middle School play is a play open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We will practice and perform as well as prepare the scenery, costumes, etc. A great chance for lots of different types of work.

Pickleball Club

Who: 7th and 8th 
When: April
Days: Monday
Time: 3:45-5:00 PM
Sponsors: Mr Forness (The natural) and Mr Mullikin (The unnatural), combined height of an average male.

Description: Learn how not just to play the fastest growing sport in America, but also techniques and skills that allow you to socially be involved in a fun activity within your community. This club would specifically work for kids who enjoyed the unit during PE that was given during the Winter.

Robotics Club

Who: 7th and 8th graders (Max of 30)
When: September-January
Days: Twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: Tuesdays 4-6pm  & Thursdays 6-8pm 
Sponsors: Mr. Partridge and Mr. Tonelli 

Description: Working with high school students in a FTC club designing robots to accomplish tasks set out by FIRST Robotics. Students will participate in designing, building, testing, and competing with their robot design. Community outreach will also occur with students helping to put on events and volunteer in the community for the general welfare of the public.

Science Olympiad

Who: 6th, 7th and 8th graders
When: September - April
Days: Thursdays (we will add Tuesdays for independent research closer to competitions)
Time: 3:30-5:00 pm

Description: Students will participate in and prepare for competitions in a variety of science challenges - from cracking secret codes or racing mousetrap cars to solving chemical mysteries or building robots.   Want to know more?  Check out https://scioly.org/.

Show Choir

Description: Students will learn music and choreography for popular songs to perform at the Spring Choir Concert.

Speech Club

Who: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students

Description: Speech Club is a supportive environment where you can practice delivering speeches, engage in debates, participate in workshops, and connect with fellow speakers. Whether you're a seasoned speaker or just starting out, our club is the perfect place to refine your abilities and achieve your communication goals. Great opportunity to prepare and practice your MLK Jr. Speech!

Student Council

Description: Students will work together to create different fun activities for the school. We help put on the Veterans Day Celebration and hope to do that again this year. We also create different fun activities for homerooms to participate in during the year. We need students who like to get involved and are good leaders in the classroom. 

Writing Club

Who: 6th, 7th, 8th grade
When: October - November
Days: most Tuesdays

Description:  This club is for anyone who loves to write. We will spend the meetings in October preparing to write and then we’ll spend November writing a novel. Yearbook

Who: 6th, 7th, 8th grade
When: All year
Days: 2 Thursdays a month
Time: 12:35-1:25
Sponsors: Jamie Stratton and Tara Foels

Description: Students will be given the opportunity to create this year’s middle school yearbook. Members will be asked to take pictures around the school and interview their peers on a wide variety of topics. They will take the statements from classmates and teachers and create stories to be featured in the yearbook. Students are expected to help edit and finalize the pages and meet the yearbook deadlines.
